Treatment & Managing RSI
Clinical Hypnosis
Hypnosis can be used as way of tolerating the pain associated with RSI type conditions. Hypnotherapists sometimes use visualisation or guided imagery, which involves closing the eyes, breathing deeply and imagining a restful and pleasant place where the patient would like to be. As the patient becomes more practiced, they are able to bring up the image more quickly and it becomes a way of taking a refreshing break.
Hypnosis can further be used as a healing technique. Some hypnotherapists help patients come up with images aimed at promoting healing. A patient may imagine blood flowing to their arms and hands, bringing nutrients to the areas that need them most. Or if the arms and hands feel tight, the patient may imagine bands falling away. Audiotapes can often help with such visualisations.
